Caravan hitchhike on NOS Headlines TV and Tom’s kiosk

Tonight we can watch my journey to Essen on NOS Headlines. I don’t know exactly at what time, but I guess you’ll be able to find out. Because of the snow falling on the solar panels on the roof I do not have sufficient power. After a long search, finding many closed doors, I finally find a warm and dry base: Tom’s kiosk in Essen Stoppenberg.

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but each time it feels very special to find a place where people give you a true warm welcome.Tom’s kiosk is opened 7 days a week from early in the morning until late at night. At this moment I am typing my blog in the little kitchen, while in the background people are unloading boxes of softdrinks. Many friends drop by. Asking them what ruhr2010 means to them, they agree that it actually doesn’t mean that much. It feels more like a ‘VIP’ and ‘culture-culture’ celebration. Nevertheless they will attend the big fireworks tonight. I am wondering: Would it be possible to turn an event like this into an event for everybody?
