Second print!

We are happy to announce that in this week, three months after the release of ‘You need others to keep you going’, the Caravan Hitchhiking Project book, we placed an order for a second print!!

The demand has been so high, that we almost run out of copies of the first print. But that ‘problem’ has been solved now. Another problem that will be solved soon: the possibility of placing orders from outside of The Netherlands. We are trying to integrate PayPal as soon as possible, to make it possible to order the book worldwide!

The Caravan Project in Prague!

The Caravan Hitchhiking Project is heading to Prague!

During the opening weekend of the Tina B Contemporary Art festival Peter Bijl will read stories of the book ‘You need others to keep you going’ (Dutch title: ‘Trekhaak Gezocht!’) which he wrote with Tjerk Ridder, about their caravan hitchhiking trip from the Netherlands over the Balkans to Istanbul last year, as a part of the Urban Maps programme, curated by Claudia Zanfi Italian art lab aMaze.

The book & DVD of the Caravan Hitchhiking Project is out now!

The release at the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands – where Tjerk Ridder opened the literarature programme with his performance (containing live-music, storytelling and film) has been a success.
Also the first reactions and reviews on the book have been glowing.

We are working on ways to get the book and dvd (which are both bi-lingual) available internationally, and to do presentations in several European countries.

Italian publication: Arcipelago Balkani

In Sarajevo recently the book “ARCIPELAGO BALKANI. An Alternative Map” has been released. Published by Silvana Editoriale and curated by Claudia Zanfi, the book offers an alternative journey through the ‘New Balkans’, through the eyes of both artists and writers – 20 Years after the outbreak of the Balkan War.

In the publication, that is part of the international Balkan project ARCIPELAGO BALKANI, The Caravan Hitchhiking Project by Dutch artists Peter Bijl and Tjerk Ridder plays a significant role. In this art project, writer Peter Bijl, musician Tjerk Ridder and his little dog Dachs have been travelling the Balkan countries in an alternative way last summer: hitchhiking…. with a caravan …. but without a car.

In the book a chapter of 15 pages is dedicated to the project, with lots of colourful picture material and an English text specially written for this publication by Peter Bijl, and translated into Italian.

Tow Bar Needed! on Lowlands

On Friday at 15.00 hours we are performing ‘Tow Bar Needed: A Theatrical Road Movie’ in the Tïtty Twïster (in Dutch), and on Saturday and Sunday we will be present all day in the caravan to tell you more about our extraordinary adventures!

Towbar needed back in Utrecht!

This Saturday, the 10th of July, Tjerk Ridder and Peter Bijl will return to Utrecht. At. 14.00 hrs the mayor of the city of Utrecht, Mr. Wolfsen, will welcome the party on Domplein.
We would hereby like to invite you to come and celebrate the great success of the hitchhiking journey with us!

Prior to the reception on Domplein, Tjerk and Peter will be welcomed by Frank du Mosch in the radio show Cappuccino which is broadcasted on Saturday, 10th July on Radio 2. Around 9.20 Tjerk Ridder will give a report of the journey and sing the title track Unterwegs.
